How to watch the Nobel Conferece

There are many ways to watch this years Nobel Conference on your computer.

If you are on campus and have a wired network connection you can view this stream or try going to http://tv.gac.edu/.

If you are on campus and have a TV connected to cable, you can watch the Nobel Conference on channel 7.

Finally, if you are not on campus or only have a wireless connection, you can find a link to watch live on the Nobel Conference website.

Gustavus Homecoming Game Live on GusTV

If for some reason you find your self unable to attend the homecoming football game in person this week, you will be able to watch it live in 640×480 standard TV resolution on GusTV. Or if you happen to be at another college campus that is connected to Internet2 and has multicast enabled on their network, you can watch the game there too. If GusTV won’t work on their campus, send a note to their networking gurus and let them know you would like them to enable multicast on their internet2 connection so you can watch GusTV.

GusTV Update

As you may have noticed, there were a couple of channels on GusTV that did not have any guide information. Well this afternoon we resolved the issues we were having with the guide information for those channels. Now you can view the upcoming schedule for Fox Mankato ( KEYC-FO ) and see where it differs from the Fox Twin Cities ( KMSP ). We also fixed the PBS stations so you can now tell what is playing on TPT HD and TPT 2D.

Finally, we have discovered that it is possible to record IPTV streams using MythTv. So if you happen to have a MythTv box setup in your dorm, with a little bit of setup you can record GusTV and other internet 2 streams. I’ll try to put together another post with more details on exactly how to do that.

Old Stadium Demolition (now on chanel 7)

It looks like the old stadium is on its way down. If you are at Gustavus and plugged into the network, you can watch it live. We also just added it to the local cable channel 7.

KEYC’s new Fox channel added to GusTV

As of July 1st, 2007 the local television station KEYC based in Mankato began broadcasting its new Fox station ( KEYC-FO ). Since we get such a good signal from them and they appear to air programming that is usually different from that which is aired on the Twin Cities Fox channel, we decided to try and add them to our GusTV lineup. At the moment we don’t have guide information for this channel yet but we are working on it. Until then you can check out the program guide for KEYCDT2 at zap2it.com

One interesting note about this channel is that it is broadcast in EDTV resolution which resembles a widescreen version of standard definition television.

Live Earth Concert on GusTV

From Saturday July 7th at 3:00 am through Sunday July 8th at 1:00am the Live Earth concert will be broadcast over Internet2 and viewable on your computer. If you are interested in tuning in, I have added some links to the live video stream on our GusTV events page.

TPT HD added to GusTV

Twin Cities Public Television’s High Definition channel is now available on GusTV. This station is the only over the air station in the area that broadcasts shows recorded in HDTV format 24/7.

New Channels Added to GusTV

For everyone trying out the GusTV pilot, we now have two additional channels. Thanks to some new hardware we are able to add some more channels to the lineup. Starting today we have added PBS (TPT2) and my 29 (WFTC). We hope to bring some more channels to the list soon. Please do let us know how they work.
