Windows 10 1803 Update Posted on October 16th, 2018 by

Gustavus Technology Services will begin deployment of the Microsoft Windows 10 1803 update that was released in April on your Gustavus owned Windows computer on November 9th. This update from Microsoft will happen automatically and includes several feature updates and security patches to enhance the security of the computer.

Due to the large size of this update, we recommend manually running it before November 9th to ensure that the process occurs at a convenient time. To manually run this update, open Software Center from the start menu and click install on the “Feature update to Windows 10 (business editions), version 1803” option listed in the Updates section. A confirmation dialog will pop up stating that this will update the operating system. Please click install on this dialog. When the update finishes installing, please reboot the computer.

The update is larger than the typical Windows Update so it may take longer than expected to complete the reboot process. Please do not interrupt the update process by shutting down or forcing a restart on the computer. After the update, you may see the “We’re getting things ready..” screen during login and the background colors may revert to the default settings. If the update process takes longer than 60 minutes, please contact the Technology Helpline.

If you have any questions, please contact the Technology Helpline (507-933-6111 or helpline@gustavus.edu).
