At about 6:00pm we noticed that our internet service provider was having some problems. Accessing Gustavus resources from off campus was not working at all. Shortly after that many users on campus began having problems connecting to AOL and accessing websites such as Slashdot.org while other sites were working.
The problem appeared to be a routing issue between a couple of their routers. I believe that their networking administrator was called in and by 8:30pm had the problem resolved.
According to our ISP’s support people, they applied a short term fix for the problem and need to apply the real fix at 2:00am. Thus at 2:00am Wednesday morning our internet access will be down for a short time while they make the necessary changes.
